The Chinese Sun contains two stories: The Chinese Sun and The Village Teacher. Through the dream of a rural boy, Shuiwa, “The Chinese Sun” introduces readers to space, showing his magnificent imagination and humanistic thinking. In “The Country Teacher”, a terminally ill teacher on his deathbed is still asking the ignorant children to memorize the three laws of Newtonian mechanics, which they cannot understand. After a scene highly saturated with realism, the story suddenly leaps to an interstellar war: godlike aliens are identifying the civilization level of the planets along the way when they are sweeping the battlefields, and the children, who are randomly selected as samples from the Earth, are indifferent to a series of test questions, until they correctly answer them. It is not until Newton's laws are correctly answered that the Earth proves worthy of preservation. In this almost ironic way, mankind escapes death, unaware that all the credit belongs to a Chinese teacher who dies in silence in the most barren corner of the planet.
